Christina says:

Once more bounty hunter Stephanie Plum declares war on the underworld.
But this time her mentor Ranger isn't the hunter but the hunted. He has
been accused of murder and is now lying low. As usual, Stephanie could do
with her share of the bond money , but of course she also wants to prove
that Ranger is innocent. This isn't as easy as you would think, given the
fact that the hunted is so clever and has not only police detective
Morelli but also two gorillas at his heels, not to mention that Stephanie
doesn't get any sleep because Grandma Mazur has had a row with her father
and thus decided to move in with her. But of course our exceptional bounty
hunter deals with everything in a most admirable fashion, even if a couple
of cars are blown up in the process (again).
After six books, Janet Evanovich's series around the clumsy bounty
hunter Stephanie Plum looks rather dated. In the first books it was funny
how she didn't have a clue of what she was doing and solved the most
unusual situations in a funny manner. The books are fuelled by absurd
situations and bizarre characters, but everything has been done to date.
Something that made you laugh out loud the first time will only make you
grin wearily the sixth time around. Too bad Evanovich can't think of any
different kind of character development for her heroine than the question
whose bed she will finally end up in.
I will still look for Evanovich's books at the library, in case I want
to laugh about Grandma Mazur again, but in my opinion they aren't worth
any longer running to the bookstore and snatching them out of the
bookseller's hand right after being released. |
